Year 8 Art Competition

We recently held a competition for our Year 8 Art students who were asked to produce a design of how they would like Lewisham to look (money and permission no object!). There were asked to look at what they felt was wrong with it currently and what they would do to improve the area.

Lewisham Council Planning and Regeneration department were asked to judge the work. The art and accompanying letters were displayed in the Council's offices so that planning officers could view and then vote on the artwork. Officers were asked to choose the five best pieces of work based on the following criteria:

  • Design
  • Creativity
  • Regeneration solutions
  • Choice of uses
  • Overall presentation

The council commented that 'the planners were very impressed with the level of knowledge about the challenges the boroug faces and the creativity and vision presented to make it better".

Congratulations to the following five students, who received the greatest number of votes for their work - Arin, Cree, My Khanh, Shelbe and Zinedine.

The winning pieces are to be professionaly printed and displayed in the Civic Suite in Catford.
